Two Dogs Killed in Downtown Fire Saturday Morning

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A fire downtown over the weekend claimed the lives of two dogs.

A duplex on 10th Avenue caught fire around 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

The Fairbanks Fire Department was able to quickly respond and with the help of the UAF and Ft. Wainwright Fire Departments, was able to put the fire out in approximately 15 minutes, according to a press release from the city of Fairbanks.

Two residents of the building were unharmed but have been displaced, however, two dogs did perish in the fire.

As of news time, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the Fairbanks Deputy Fire Marshal's Office.
