FAIRBANKS, Alaska - At the end of this week, many community members will gather and celebrate at the annual Midnight Sun Intertribal Pow Wow. The yearly event will be held this in the fields behind the Carlson Center.
The gates open Friday, July 13th at 6 PM, and the gathering will continue all weekend, concluding with the release of an eagle on Sunday at 2 PM.
Midnight Sun Intertribal Pow Wow Council Coordinator, Benno Cleveland, said the pow wow is significant because it is a time “we gather together and we celebrate life together. We give thanks back to our creator and the blessings continues to give us through drums, song, and dance." The annual event will be free of charge this year, and more information can be found on the Midnight Sun Intertribal Council's Facebook page.
