According to Anchorage Daily News and the U.S. Coast Guard a Taquan Air floatplane has crashed with two people on board near Metlakatla in Southeast Alaska.
Per the U.S. Coast Guard the pilot and the passenger have been recovered by good Samaritans and are being ‘tended to’.
The call about the plane crash came in to the Coast Guard around 4:30PM Monday, the current condition of the passengers along with any identifying information is unknown at this time.
The plane was flying into Metlakatla according to Brian Dykens, a spokesman with the U.S. Coast guard. But it is unknown where the plane originated from.
This is the second crash in the last week involving a Taquan Air floatplane, the first involving a collision of two floatplanes full of cruise passengers; six fatalities resulted from that crash.
