ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police say an 18-year-old man was shot and killed and a boy was gravely wounded off a trail in the middle of the city. Police just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday received a report of shots fired along Chester Creek Trail near Sullivan Arena. Police found the shooting victims in woods off the trail system. Police on Monday said the shooting followed an altercation among juveniles that started along nearby sports fields.

ANGOON, Alaska (AP) - A 44-year-old southeast Alaska man died in weekend a pickup crash. Alaska State Troopers say the crash killed Casey Meyers of Angoon early Sunday morning. Troopers just after 5:30 a.m. took reports of an overturned truck. Investigators determined that Meyers was driving alone on Killisnoo Road and entered the ditch. The pickup hit an embankment and rolled several times.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The Coast Guard is searching waters east of Whittier after a small boat with no one on board was spotted in the area. A 10-foot blue and gray Zodiak was reported adrift at 7:30 a.m. Monday in Passage Canal. The boat carried fishing gear, line, oars and cat food, which can be used as shrimp bait. The boat had no motor and no identifying numbers on the hull.

On 10-3-2019 at approximately 0645 hours, AST responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Tanana Lp. Ext in Delta Junction. Upon arrival AST contacted Christopher Grapengeter, 33 yoa of Delta Junction. Investigation revealed that Christopher had been operating a motor vehicle under the influence. AST records also show that Christopher's license is also revoked. Christopher was placed under arrest for DUI and driving while revoked and transported to Fairbanks Correction Center where he was remanded.

On June 3, 2019 at 0020 hours Alaska State Troopers responded to a residence near Goldstream Rd for a report of a vehicle causing a disturbance. Troopers contacted the vehicle and identified the passenger as Aaron Johnson, age 27 of Fairbanks, who was on Conditions of Release in 4FA-18-02557CR. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Johnson for Violating his Conditions of Release. Johnson was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was held on $250 bail.

On 06/02/2019 at 0338 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle due to the driver not wearing a safety belt. Investigation determined the driver, Kenneth Newman Jr, age 21 from Fairbanks was impaired by alcohol and was in possession of a handgun. Newman was arrested for DUI and Misconduct Involving a Weapon 4th degree. Newman was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was released on his own recognizance once he was sober.

On 6-1-19 at approximately 0918 hours, Troopers stopped out with a vehicle that had driven into the ditch on Goldhill Road. The driver was identified as Phynn Tyndall, 21 of Fairbanks. Subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Phynn for DUI. Phynn was remanded at FCC where he was later released on his own recognizance.

On 05/31/2019 at 1736 hours the Alaska State Troopers were contacted by the McDonald's on Geist Road reported there was a male in the restroom who refused to leave. AST contacted Michael Williams, age 47 from Fairbanks and he continued to refuse to leave the premise. Williams was arrested for Criminal Trespass 2nd Degree and remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was released on his own recognizance once he was sober.

On 6/1/19 around 0322 hours, the Alaska Sate Troopers received a call from Benjamin Allen, 56 years old of North Pole, reporting Joseph Frisone, 37 years old of North Pole, was trespassing on his property. Trooper responded and the investigation revealed Joseph was trespassing on Benjamin's property and Joseph possessed drugs. Joseph was arrested and remanded at FCC for Criminal Trespass in the 2nd degree and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree. Investigation further revealed Benjamin had a $500 warrant for his arrest for failing to appear to court. Benjamin was remanded at FCC for the warrant, 4FA-19-0936CR.

On 6/2/19 at 0531 hours, several people contacted AST Dispatch to report a single vehicle rollover in Angoon. Investigation revealed Casey Meyers, 44 of Angoon, was driving alone in his 2013 Toyota Tundra on Killisnoo Road when the vehicle entered the ditch and hit an embankment. The vehicle rolled several times. Meyers was ejected from the vehicle. CPR was initiated but efforts were not successful. Meyers was pronounced deceased on scene. Next of kin has been notified. Alcohol appears to be a factor.

Investigation revealed Grant Jennings, age 28 of Palmer, had an outstanding warrant. Jennings was arrested and transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded and held on $10,000 cash appearance bail.

On 06/02/2019 at approximately 1645 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of an assault in the area of W. Lakes Blvd in Big Lake. Investigation revealed 31 YOA Andrew Shiver of Big Lake recklessly caused injury to two victims whom he was in a domestic relationship with. Shiver was remanded to Matsu Pretrial on two counts of Assault 4th Degree involving domestic violence.

On 5/23/19 at 0901 hours, Troopers received a report of a trailer and other items being stolen from an address on Leber Street in Homer. An investigation showed a small utility trailer and other items had been stolen the previous night. The trailer was recovered by Troopers prior to it being reported stolen after Troopers located it with other stolen items from a separate theft investigation. A suspect has been identified and the investigation is ongoing.

On 6/3/19 Troopers remanded Scott Deboard, 23 of Kasilof, into WWPT after it was determined he had stolen the trailer.

On June 2nd, 2019, AST responded to a residence on Birch Street, Kenai for a follow up investigation. AST recovered tools stolen from the business at the residence. Investigation revealed McGerra L. Beck, age 36 of Sterling, sold tools stolen from the business to a resident on Birch Street. Beck was not at the residence at the time. An arrest warrant for Beck for Theft II has been sent to the Kenai Court.

On May 28th, 2019 at approximately 0921 hours, the Alaska State Troopers were dispatched to Epperheimer Incorporated in Nikiski for a report of a theft. Investigation revealed unknown persons trespassed on the property and stole approximately $1500.00 worth of tools and painting supplies. On 5/14/19 at 1435 hours, Troopers received a report that someone stole gas and a red 6 gallon gas tank from a commercial fishing site on the Ninilchik Beach. During an unrelated investigation Scott Deboard, 23 of Kasilof, was found in possession of the gas can. Deboard was remanded into WWPT for this case on 6/3/19 while he was in-custody on unrelated charges.

On 06/03/2019 at approximately 1356 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Haines, stopped a black 2002 Lexus sedan on Lutak Road for several equipment violations. The driver, Cole Ripley, age 18 of Haines was found to be in possession of a schedule VIA controlled substance, as well as a concealed weapon. Ripley was charged with Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree and Misconduct Involving Weapons in the Fifth Degree. Ripley was given a notice to appear at the Haines Courthouse on a later date and released at the scene.

On 05/28/2019, Richard S Phillips 35, of Ketchikan, was cited by Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Ketchikan Post, for failing to return his hunt report in the time required. Phillips was cited after investigation revealed he failed to return his Moose hunt report for permit RM038 in the time required. Bail is set at $120 in the Ketchikan court.
