ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The Alaska Department of Corrections says prisoners caused an estimated $100,000 damage after taking over a wing of a maximum security prison. The department says 62 prisoners on Tuesday night barricaded off a 64-bed section of Spring Creek Correctional Center in Seward. They damaged fire suppressant systems, plumbing, computer lines and glass.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A 32-year-old Anchorage man has been indicted in the death of a child in his care 11 months ago. Anchorage police say Richard Vickery was indicted on counts of second-degree murder, manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. Police on June 12 took a call of a child choking at an east Anchorage home. Responding officers administered CPR to the 6-year-old boy until medics arrived. The boy died two days later at a hospital.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police are investigating an apparent early morning hit-and-run crash. Police just after 2:30 a.m. Wednesday took a call of a man lying on east Benson Boulevard, a main east-west thoroughfare in midtown Anchorage. Police say it appeared the man had been struck by a car. Police are looking for witnesses in the case.

On 05/05/2019 at 0003 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks observed an ATV driving on the Old Steese Highway and attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the ATV. The driver failed to immediately pull over and attempted to evade Troopers by driving through a gravel pit. The driver was ultimately contacted and identified as Bradley Carr. Investigation determined Carr was driving under the influence of alcohol. Carr was arrested for DUI and Failure to Stop at Direction of a Peace Officer 2nd and was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

On May 7, 2019 at approximately 2:48 PM, the Alaska State Troopers responded to Tanana for a report of a disturbance involving a firearm. Investigation revealed Charlie Jordan, age 38 of Tanana, had physically assaulted and fired multiple shots from a rifle at a family member. Charlie was remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Center where he was held without bail on one count each of Assault III, Assault IV and MIW IV.

On 5-7-19 at approximately 2140 hours, Dillingham based Alaska State Troopers received a report involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian in the village of Togiak. The Togiak VPSO responded to the scene. The pedestrian was transported to Anchorage via air ambulance. The pedestrian is in stable condition. The incident is under investigation at this time.

On 5/5/19 at 2234 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report that 27 year old Travis Fagerstrom, of Golovin, had fallen in the water outside of Golovin. Fagerstrom had been water skipping a 30 foot lead in the ice, on his snow machine, with his friends. Fagerstrom's friends went to get help. Searchers responded to the area by boat. On 5/6/19 at 1200 hours searchers, using drag hooks, located the body of Travis Fagerstrom. Next of Kin was on scene. Troopers responded to Golovin for the scene investigation. After the scene investigation was completed the State Medical Examiner released the remains to the family.

On 5/7/19 at approximately 1900 hours, Warron Bainbridge (age 63 of Anchorage) reported that around 1700 hours, unknown person(s) broke in to his truck while it was parked in a pull out at Mile 74 of the Seward Highway and stole his wallet. Investigation is continuing.
