ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Wasilla police say one person has died in a plane crash near the local airport. Anchorage television station KTUU reports the crash occurred near the Wasilla airport at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. Police say an officer was conducting a security check at the airport and witnessed the crash.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A woman died Thursday in a traffic crash on Anchorage's east side. Anchorage police say the woman was a passenger in a car that collided shortly before 3 p.m. with a sport utility vehicle at Debarr Road and Edward Street. The woman died at the scene. The woman driving the car was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The crash killed a dog in the car. A man driving the SUV was not injured.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A second man has been sentenced in the theft of a fossilized woolly mammoth tusk from an Anchorage museum. Federal prosecutors say 41-year-old Gary Boyd of Wasilla was sentenced Wednesday to 33 months in prison. It's the same sentence U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason handed out in April to co-conspirator Martin Elze (EL-zee). Both were convicted of removal of a paleontological resource.

On 5/29/2019 at approximately 1334 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report that a homicide occurred in the community Koyukuk. AST responded and investigation revealed Conrad Jones, 27 of Koyukuk, had a confrontation with an individual which resulted in Jones causing that person's death. Jones was contacted by Troopers and ultimately was arrested on the charge of Murder in the First Degree. The General Investigation Unit (GIU) out of Fairbanks has assumed case responsibility. Investigation is ongoing. The name of the deceased will be withheld until verification that next of kin notification has been accomplished.

On 5/29/19 around 1942 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a male who ran himself over with his truck. Troopers responded and the investigation revealed Michael Cammack, 57 years old of Fairbanks, was driving while intoxicated and got his vehicle stuck in the ditch. Michael was transported to Fairbanks Trooper Post for DataMaster Processing and he refused to submit to a chemical test of his breath. Michael was remanded at Fairbanks Correctional Center for DUI and Refusal.

On 5/29/2019, at approximately 2056 hours, Fairbanks AST responded to a welfare check on O'Neal Rd. in North Pole. During the welfare check, Troopers contacted David Felix, age 42 of North Pole. Felix initially gave Troopers another individuals name and date of birth. After further investigation, Troopers determined David's identity and found he had an active AST warrant for his arrest. David was placed under arrest and remanded to FCC on the charges of VCOR, False Info, and his warrant.

On 05/30/2019 at 0146 hours the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a moving violation on Geraghty Avenue in Fairbanks. Investigation determined the driver, Shawn Sadler, age 44 from Fairbanks was driving under the influence of alcohol. Sadler was arrested for DUI and Endangering the Welfare of a Child 1st degree due to a 10 year old child being in the vehicle. Sadler was remanded to FCC and released on her own recognizance.

On 05/29/2019 at approximately 1329 hours the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a theft in the area of mile 10 Knik Goose Bay Dr. The victim reported multiple items of jewelry with an estimated worth of $9000.00 had been stolen from the residence.

On 5-30-19, at approximately 1015 hours, Alaska State Troopers, Palmer Judicial Services warrant unit contacted Robert Cripe, age 46 of Wasilla for a warrant service at a residence in Wasilla after receiving a Crime Stoppers Tip on Cripe. Cripe was arrested on the warrant for Failure to Appear original charge DUI. Cripe was arrested without incident and remanded to Mat-Su Pretrial. Bail was set at $500.00 cash / corporate
On 5/30/2019, Alaska State Trooper received a report from Marc Campbell that someone stole two hanging flower pots from the White Fields Church on the Palmer Wasilla Highway. The unknown male and female suspects left the property in a red 4 door car. Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to contacted the Alaska State Troopers at 352-5401.
On 5/29/19 at approximately 2223 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Wasilla received a report of a burglary at an address on O'Brien Creek Drive. Troopers located the suspect vehicle nearby and contacted the driver, 35 year old Michael Padgett Jr. of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Michael unlawfully entered a shed on the property and stole a canoe paddle. Additionally, Michael was on Pre-Trial Supervision and violated his conditions of release. Troopers arrested Michael and transported him to Mat-Su Pre-Trial where he was remanded on charges of Burglary in the Second Degree, Theft in the Fourth Degree, and Violating Conditions of Release.

On 5/29/2019 the McGrath based Alaska Wildlife Trooper arrested Tristen Snow (21 yoa of McGrath) on a $500 felony arrest warrant for the above charges and a $100 felony arrest warrant for felony probation violation. Snow was transported to Aniak pending transportation to YKCC in Bethel.
