ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers say a 22-year-old South Dakota man died and two other people were injured in a collision on the Parks Highway. Nicholas Bertram, who was driving an SUV, died at the scene of the Thursday afternoon crash. Troopers say the crash occurred when the SUV collided with a semi tractor-trailer as the SUV was turning left onto the highway at the intersection of the Big Lake cutoff.

On 5/23/2019, at approximately 1912 hours, Fairbanks AST received a report of a disturbance off of Chena Ridge Rd. in Fairbanks. Troopers responded to the scene and contacted Trevor Oester, age 34 of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed that Trevor used his truck to damage a family members vehicle. Trevor was placed under arrest and remanded to FCC without bail on the charge of Criminal Mischief 5.

On 05-24-19 at approximately 0443 hours, Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks contacted Jean Bustamante-Ciriaco, age 26 of Fairbanks, was contacted at a residence on Turner in Fairbanks. Investigation revealed Bustamante-Ciriaco had seven (7) outstanding warrants for his arrest on various charges. Bustamante-Ciriaco was arrested on the warrants and was remanded to Fairbanks Correctional Center.

On 5/23/19 around 2012 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of an assault in the area of Old Badger Road. AST responded to investigate and during this investigation contacted Randy Francis, 39 years old of North Pole. Investigation revealed Randy was on conditions of release x2. Randy was arrested and remanded at FCC for 3 counts of VCOR.

On 5/24/2019, at approximately 0210 hours, Fairbanks AST responded to a REDDI report at the Marlin Bar in Fairbanks. Upon arriving in the area, Troopers were flagged down by a male outside of the bar. The male stated that he was assaulted by another male, later identified as Tyson Hillyer age 36 of Fairbanks. Tyson fled on foot from Troopers and was detained after a short foot pursuit. Investigation revealed Tyson had driven to the Marlin under the influence of alcohol, engaged the victim in a fight, recklessly caused physical injury to the victim, and violated his conditions of release in an unrelated court case. Tyson was placed under arrest and remanded to the Fairbanks Correctional Facility without bail.

On 5-24-19 at approximately 0727 hours, Troopers were investigating a trespassing complaint near Bottles Street in North Pole. Troopers contacted a male who subsequently fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Troopers apprehended the individual. The male was identified as James Bellmay, 34 of North Pole. James was found to have a no bail felony arrest warrant for a parole violation. James was remanded at FCC where he was held without bail.

On 5-23-19 at approximately 1701 hours, Troopers responded to a residence on Hite Street in North Pole for a disturbance. Subsequent investigation revealed that Marco Valentine, 18 of North Pole, had assaulted a family member inside the residence. Marco was arrested for Assault 2 DV and remanded at FCC where he was held without bail pending arraignment.

Update: On 5/23/19, a Fairbanks Grand Jury indicted Jared Zabriskie for Murder I and Solicitation to Commit Murder. A $10 million dollar warrant was issued for Zabriskie. At 1703 hours, Zabriskie was located at his residence, which is also the scene of the homicide, and taken into custody. Zabriskie was remanded to FCC. Investigation continues.

Update: On 5/17/2019 at approximately 0823 hours, Alaska State Troopers took Patrick Marsh into custody. A Trooper patrolling near Badger and Hartzog spotted Marsh walking in the area. Marsh provided a false name but Troopers took him into custody and were able to positively identify him. Investigation is ongoing.

On 5/13/19 at 0044 hours, AST received a report of a deceased person at a residence on Yankovitch Road in Fairbanks. AST responded and determined that the death was suspicious in nature. The victim was identified as 69 year old Trisha Pearson of Fairbanks. Investigation revealed that Patrick Marsh, age 25, was involved in the death. Marsh then stole Pearson’s Jeep Cherokee from the residence. The Jeep was later located abandoned in the area of Hamilton Acres on 5/13/19. An arrest warrant has been issued for Marsh for Murder in the First Degree. AST is requesting assistance from the public in locating Marsh. On 05/23/2019 at about 2005 hours, the Alaska State Troopers received a report of a Domestic Violence Protective Order (DVPO) violation at a residence in the 2500 Block of Eagle Avenue. Alaska State Troopers responded to the residence. Investigation revealed that Floyd Jackson, age 52 of Ketchikan was in violation of a DVPO by being at the residence. Jackson was arrested for Violating a DVPO and remanded to Ketchikan Correctional Center with No Bail.

On 05/24/2019 at approximately 0920 hours the Alaska State Troopers responded to a Burglary in the area of Edelweiss Dr. in Wasilla. Investigation revealed suspects forced their way into a secondary structure on the victim's property and stole multiple items from the structure. Investigation is ongoing.

On 5/24/19 at approximately 0830 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a suspicious vehicle off Bodenburg Loop in Palmer. Jeffery Obrien, age 38 of Palmer, was located in the vehicle and was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to remand on a Driving While License Revoked conviction. He was remanded to the Mat-Su Pretrial facility where he was held without bail.

On 5/23/19 Alaska State Troopers were contacted by multiple residents of the Mat-Su Valley stating they had received fraudulent phone calls from a person claiming to be a US Marshal in Anchorage. Investigation revealed a man claiming to be a US Marshal was providing false information with hopes of obtaining payment from the residents. On 05/23/2019, at approximately 1359 hours, The Alaska State Troopers received a report of a disturbance at a residence on S Irwin Drive in Wasilla. Investigation resulted in the arrest of Gavin Chesley, age 20 of Wasilla. Chesley physically assaulted a household member with a firearm. Chesley was taken into custody and transported to Mat-Su Pre-Trial were is was held without bail.

On 05-23-19, at 2227 hours, Alaska State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a 2001 Chevrolet S10 on the Parks Hwy at Yenlo St. for a speeding violation. The driver was identified as Jesus Z. Medrano, age 24, of Fairbanks. Investigation determined Jesus was operating the Chevrolet impaired and under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. Jesus was arrested for DUI and later remanded into Mat-Su Pretrial where he was held till sober.

On 05/18/19 at 2000 hours, AST contacted Christopher Brightbill and Terrence Manning near mile 16 of Knik Goose Bay Road in Wasilla (Safety Corridor) during a disturbance investigation. Both Brightbill and Manning were arrested for the original charges of DUI. They were transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where they were remanded into custody.

On 05/23/19 at 2145 hours, AST responded to the area of Round Table Drive in Houston for the report of an intoxicated driver. AST contacted James Cantine in a red 1995 Nissan Pathfinder and arrested him for the original charge of DUI. Cantine was transported to the MSPT facility in Palmer where he was remanded into custody.

On 5/24/19 at about 0817 hours, Dillingham AST was notified that Carrel Rawls, age 78 of Kokhanok, died of natural causes at a home in Kokhanok early that morning. The death was expected, and no suspicious circumstances exist. The next of kin has been notified.
