KETCHIKAN, Alaska (AP) - Federal officials say an Alaska air carrier involved in two deadly floatplane crashes in a week has voluntarily suspended operations. The Federal Aviation Administration says the halt of flightseeing and commuter flights is in place until further notice. The action comes after the passenger and the pilot of a Beaver floatplane operated by Taquan Air died when the aircraft crashed in Metlakatla Harbor Monday afternoon during a scheduled commuter flight from Ketchikan.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A felon convicted of carrying a loaded gun in Alaska was sentenced Monday to 21 months in federal prison. Federal prosecutors say 41-year-old Ryan Matthew Neely of Woodenville, Washington, pleaded guilty in October to being a felon in possession of a firearm. Neely was detained on Feb. 20, 2018, when he attempted to carry a gun through airport security in Juneau. Transportation Safety Administration screeners spotted the weapon in a duffel bag.

On May 20, 2019 at approximately 1039 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report of a deceased male on Hempel Rd in Fairbanks. The male was identified as Robert Morris age 32 of Fairbanks. The next of kin has been notified and investigation continues.
On 5/21/2019, approximately 0230 hours, Alaska State Troopers stopped a red 2002 Oldsmobile sedan near the intersection of Palmer Wasilla Highway and N 49th State Street, Palmer, for speeding. Investigation revealed 34 year old Rodolfo Topete of Wasilla was operating the vehicle while intoxicated. Topete was arrested at the scene without incident and remanded to MSPT where he was to be released on his on recognizance. He was also cited for speeding. - CSM3

UPDATE: On 5/20/2019 at approximately 2315 hours, Randon Mint Flood was contacted at his residence and arrested for Criminal Mischief 5th, Domestic Violence. He was remanded at Wildwood Pretrial Facility and held with no bail pending arraignment.
ORIGINAL: On 5/20/2019 at approximately 0122 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence of Kalifornsky Beach Road. Investigation revealed Randon Mint Flood, age 34 of Kenai, had damaged the property of his significant other by throwing a six pack of beer across the room, causing the bottles to shatter. Flood fled prior to AST arrival. An arrest warrant has been requested for Criminal Mischief 5th, Domestic Violence.

On 05/20/2019 at approximately 2109 hours, William Karron, 35 yo, of Sterling, was arrested on two counts of Assault in the Fourth Degree. William was remanded to Wildwood Correctional Complex with no bail.

On 5/20/19 at approximately 2206 hours, Sierra Cornell (age 18 of Nikiski) reported to Soldotna AST that sometime between mid day Saturday (5/18/19) and 0700 hours on Monday (5/20/19) unknown person(s) cut the fuel line and siphoned approximately 10 gallons of fuel from a vehicle while it was parked in her driveway. Investigation is continuing.

On 5/20/19 at approximately 1619 hours the Alaska State Troopers performed a routine traffic stop near mile 80 of the Sterling Hwy. Investigation revealed the driver, Andrew Oldenburg, age 48 of Sterling had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failing to appear for an omnibus hearing for original charges of Burglary 1, Burglary 2, Vehicle Theft 1, and Criminal Mischief 3. Subsequent investigation revealed Oldenburg was in possession of 2 controlled substances. Oldenburg was arrested for the warrant and 2 additional charges of Misconduct Involving Controlled Substances in the 4th Degree. Oldenburg was transported to Wildwood Pretrial where he was remanded on $1000 bail.

On 05/21/2019 a 0901 hours, Troopers received a report from Anthony Landrus, 76 of Anchor Point, that his Polaris 4-wheeler had been stolen from his property on Bourbon Ave in Anchor Point. An investigation showed the ATV and an ATV trailer had been taken from the property sometime since Sunday. The investigation is ongoing.

On 5/21/19 at 0916 hours, Laura Bentley reported two shotguns were missing from her residence. Bentley reported they returned to their home on Noel Court in Ninilchik about three weeks ago and found the shotguns missing. The shotguns were identified as a Savage .410 double barrel with wood stock and a Savage 16 gauge double barrel with wood stock.

On 05/16/2019 at 0756 hours, Troopers received a report from a Fritz Creek resident reporting one of her credit cards was being used around Homer without her permission. An investigation led to the arrest of Carma Jones, 44 of Washington, on 5/19/19. Jones was arrested and remanded into the Homer Jail.

Type: Sport Fish with More Than 1 Line
On 5/17/19, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, on the PV Sentry, issued Jay Spinney, age 40, of San Diego, CA, a citation for sport fishing for bottom fish with more than 1 line. Spinney was given a $120 fine out of the Petersburg District Court.
Type: Death Investigation
On 5/20/19 at approximately 0743 hours the Alaska State Troopers received report of a woman who was not breathing and not responding. Investigation revealed Donnis Thompson, age 90 of Nikiski, had died of natural causes during the night. Next of kin was on scene at the time of the report. No foul play is suspected.
