ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The municipality of Anchorage has appealed the award of nearly $2 million to a fired police officer. Anchorage television station KTVA reports attorneys for the municipality on Friday appealed the award made in federal court to former police Lt. Anthony Henry, who was fired four years ago. The city has spent more than $1 million in legal fees on the case.

On 4-23-19 at approximately 0453 hours, Troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Richardson Highway for multiple violations. The driver was identified as Curtis Tindall, age 24 of Fairbanks. Subsequent investigation determined Curtis violated conditions of release from a previous court case. Curtis was arrested for Violating Conditions of Release and remanded at FCC where bail was set at $250.

On 4/22/19 at approximately 1055 hours the Alaska State Trooper contacted a suspicious vehicle at the Riverview Tesoro in Kasilof. Investigation revealed the license plates on the vehicle did not match. Tony Watson, age 55, of Clam Gulch was issued a misdemeanor citation for Improper Use of Plates and released on scene.

On 4/22/19 at approximately 0820 hours the Alaska State Troopers received report of a vehicle passing a school bus that had its stop arm out, lights flashing, and kids boarding. The bus driver able to write down the trucks license plate. AST later contacted the driver who admitted to being in the area at the time of the report. The driver was issued a misdemeanor citation for Fail to Stop for a School Bus.

Michael Bernhardt, age 35 of Hydaburg, participated as a permit holder in the 2019 herring pound fishery near Craig. Alaska Wildlife Troopers on Prince of Wales documented that herring were introduced into his pound structure on 3/28/19, and were not released by noon on the seventh day as required by the management plan. Bernhardt was cited for violating 5AAC27.185(s), specifically, failing to release his herring by noon on the seventh day after they were introduced.

On 04/22/2019, at approximately 2102 hours, Alaska State Troopers responded to the vicinity of Long Lake Road in Willow for a call of a vehicle that was stuck on private property after skidding across the intersection. The female driver of the vehicle had left the scene prior to AST but was located a short distance away. Investigation revealed that the driver, Samantha Keller age 40 of Willow, had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Keller was arrested for DUI and transported to the MATSU Pre-Trial Facility where she was remanded and later released on her own recognizance.

On 04/22/2019, at approximately 1302 hours, the Saxman VPSO responded to Raven Avenue for a reported domestic disturbance. Investigation revealed Damion Wallace, age 18 of Saxman, had committed the crimes of Assault in the 4th (DV), Driving Under the Influence, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, Criminal Trespass in the 2nd degree, Misconduct involving a Controlled Substance in the 5th degree, and Consumption of Alcohol While Under the Age of 21. Wallace was arrested without incident and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center where he was held without bail.
