FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The new Starbucks on College Road is now a Military Family Store - which means the location will now help to provide job opportunities for military families.

Starbucks representatives held a ceremony on Thursday to officially dedicate the new location.

With a coffee tasting, and presentation of Patriotic Starbucks aprons, five employees were recognized for their connection to the military. Out of the five employees, one veteran and four spouses have already been hired.

According to Regional Director, Sean Luckman, these five employees are just a few out of the 18,000 hires to date - with the company on track to meet its goal of 25,000 hires by 2025.

Luckman also said that this is the first company operated Starbucks in Fairbanks, and the second in Alaska, to be named a Military Family Store.

"This is our 50th Military Family Store. We have one other store in the state of Alaska down in Anchorage and this is our second store in the state but it's our 50th store nationwide,” he said.

Morgan Clay, from the 'American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - Alaska' was also in attendance to receive a $10,000 dollar grant to aid in suicide prevention.
