FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Scientists have revised the magnitude of the November 30th Earthquake near Anchorage from a 7.0 to a 7.1.

According the AP, Alaska Earthquake Center officials say the change comes after quake data was reviewed by multiple agency and academic groups.

They also say that deriving different magnitude estimates is not uncommon as new techniques or more analyses are applied.

The 1964 earthquake was considered to be a 8.4 to 8.5 magnitude for many years before being revised to a 9.2.
