FAIRBANKS, Alaska - For many soldiers, returning from deployment, means reuniting with friends and family - and thanks to Fort Wainwright's MWR support network, soldiers can now look forward to a 'Welcome Home bag'.
These goodie bags are filled with essentials for the Alaskan winter - including lotion, chap stick and beanies.
MWR has also scheduled different family activities for soldiers, including a 'Letters to Santa' Event.
Between October 21 and November 21, soldiers can pick up a free Welcome Home bag from the Last Frontier Community Activity Center.
Being the BOSS representative for his unit, Private First Class, Austin Mooney, says many of the guys in his unit appreciate the Welcome Home Program.
The MWR Commercial Sponsorship and Advertising Coordinator at Fort Wainwright, Megan Trexler, added that it's about showing appreciation for those who have served our country.

PV1 Austin Mooney; B.O.S.S. Representative>>"I think they're a great idea. I've actually had some friends just get back from their deployment and they liked them, they enjoyed them. I've also participated with the haunted laser tag and there were a lot of families that came in and they all enjoyed the events."

Megan Trexler; MWR Commercial and Advertising Coordinator>>"I think us acknowledging their service and the sacrifices and everything the soldiers do for our country, really helps welcome them home and helps kind of bring everything together."
