Police search for wanted man near Birch Hill, temporarily close roads

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Police activity in the Birch Hill area left roads blocked off for a little over an hour Thursday morning. According to Alaska State Trooper spokesperson Megan Peters, officers tried to conduct a traffic stop on a man who has a warrant out against him. The man was seen driving a stolen vehicle and ran from officers. He then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods. Law enforcement was unable to locate him and is currently following leads.
