FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) Fairbanks Police were investigating what looked to be a report of domestic violence at 1:45 in the morning when the situation quickly evolved.

As the police were attempting a traffic stop, the suspect crossed past the oncoming lane of College Road near creamer's field and drove into a wooded area.

The officers made attempts to approach when a gun shot was fired and the vehicle then hit a bus stop and went into the ditch.

As officers made contact with the suspect inside, it was determined that man driving the vehicle had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
