FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A concerned citizen contacted the Alaska State Troopers on Christmas Eve about a possible phone scam. They were threatened by an individual who identified himself as an Alaska State Trooper for missing court hearings in Anchorage. The citizen paid the person on the phone $936 on "Money Pak" cards.

The Alaska State Troopers want to remind residents that they do not request any type of payments over the phone and if you have a question about the validity of a state trooper, call the local dispatch at 451-5100.
