FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Department of Transportation crews have been tirelessly working on the Seward Highway and Tudor Road overpass after an empty dump truck, traveling with the bed up, struck the Tudor Road Bridge.
According to the latest update from DOT, crews noted further damage to the support system of the bridge during Friday’s repairs. Officials advise that the damaged beam has the potential to fall and must be removed to protect the safety of other highway users. Crews are in the process of removing the girder and will begin as soon as the crew and equipment can mobilize to the site.
Drivers are asked to use caution, as traffic on Tudor is currently shifted away from the damaged girder and remains open in two through-lanes. Meanwhile, Seward Highway Northbound lanes have closed to all through traffic.
