Murder suspect assaults officer at Fairbanks Correctional Center

FAIRBANKS, Alaska A Fairbanks man has been charged with assaulting an officer within the Fairbanks Correctional Center.

According to charging documents Patrick Marsh yelled explicit words at the officer then charged him when asked to return to his room.

The officer stated he felt Marsh grab his keys on his belt and could see Marsh attempting to strike him with his left hand.

The officer struggled to position himself behind the inmate which resulted in both of them ending up on the floor. The officer reportedly hit his head in the ground, with Marsh on top of him.

Two other officers intervened and were also struck when attempting to detain Marsh.

Patrick Marsh was arrested in May in connection with a murder on Yankovich Road. He had been previously arrested on April 23rd for criminal mischief, reckless endangerment and violating his conditions of release.
