More than 1,600 state employees required to submit resignation

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Friday is the last day for resignations to be submitted from over 1,600 state employees that were sent an email from Governor-elect Mike Dunleavy's transition team asking for their resignation. Although it is customary for an incoming administration to request resignations from political appointees, Dunleavy's transition team said in a press release that the governor-elect has "broadened the scope of which employees have been asked to take this step". We asked the team several times how many employees were sent this email, and they said they could not give us a number. The Alaska Department of Administration Commissioner provided us a list of every at-will state employee that received this request.
Out of the over 1,600 employees statewide, 90 of them were in Fairbanks.
