For this week's Pet of the Week, we meet a shy and sweet ball of fluff, Harold the Hare (Sara Tewksbury/KTVF)
Here's what Sarah Harmon, animal tender with the Fairbanks North Star Borough Animal Shelter, had to tell us:
"We have Harold, he's about two, so you could say he's just a hare-old. He's a domestic rabbit. He's pretty nice, he does like to be snuggled a little bit, not for huge lengths of time. He does like his personal space, but he will let you pick him up pretty easily. He's a pretty friendly guy. Rabbits need lots of timothy hay in their diet, as well as fresh greens and fruits to get them lots of vitamin C to keep them happy and healthy. He is learning to be litter box trained -- we're working on it, but he's getting much better. We recommend that if you have children in your home that you closely supervise them while they're spending time with Harold. If rabbits are not quite your thing, we're getting pretty full right now. We have lots of dogs and cats, guinea pigs and ferrets who are all looking for a great new home, so come on down and see if you can't find a new friend."
