FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A man was found dead at his motorhome, which caught fire Saturday night on Cormorant Street in Fairbanks. The State Fire Marshal in Anchorage is still investigating the cause of the fire and death.
Chena Goldstream Fire and Rescue responded to the structure fire on Saturday and found the deceased man. The structure was a complete loss. According to Alaska State Troopers Spokesperson, Tim DeSpain, the event is considered to be an accident, and they are waiting to release the name of the deceased man until they notify the next of kin.
Off duty firefighters from Chena Goldstream Fire and Rescue, Ester Fire Department, and 'ABC Canine Kennel' helped to take the five dogs who survived the fire to 'Loving Companions Rescue' in North Pole. Two of the owner's dogs died in the fire, according to Chena Goldstream Fire and Rescue.
