Man thrown from vehicle in Chena Hot Springs Road collision

FAIRBANKS, AK On 6/22/19 at 7:52AM, Alaska State Troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision near mile 12 Chena Hot Springs Road.

Investigation revealed Brian McManus (39 years of age of Fairbanks) was driving a 2007 Dodge truck westbound on CHS Road when a westbound 2003 Kia Sorrento passed him.

Marcus Strickland (26 years of age of Two Rivers) was driving the Sorrento. When he completed the pass, Strickland braked suddenly causing McManus to rear-end him.

The collision caused McManus’ vehicle to overturn. A passenger in McManus’ vehicle, Larry Hall (57 years of age of Two Rivers) was ejected from the truck. Larry Hall was not seriously injured but he was transported to FMH by Steese Fire Department medical personnel. Strickland was also transported to FMH with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles sustained serious damage. AST issued Strickland a summons for reckless driving. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
