Fairbanks man sentenced to 24 years for multiple crimes

FAIRBANKS, Alaska A man charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, sexual assault, and robbery was sentenced to 24 years in prison today.

Grady Massengale, 35, of Fairbanks was arrested in 2015 after he led police on a chase before crashing into a building. He was held for failure to stop and third degree assault.

He was investigated for crimes committed on July 4th, 2015. He faced three sets of charges for attacking his neighbor.

The victim says in a letter read by her lawyer that Massengale forced his way into her house, and then raped her and threatened to kill her.

Massengale pleaded guilty to a reduced count of Assault 3 in one case, and robbery, third degree weapons misconduct, and violating conditions of parole in other cases. Massengale will serve a total of 24 years.

According to the victim’s statement, Messengale asked her if she wanted to be found with or without her face or clothes.

Judge MacDonald said that the he accepted the plea agreement because of the substantial amount of jail time he would have to serve.
