Man accused of strangling mother and then living with her body for five days

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Tuesday Night Fairbanks Police discovered a murder victim in a neighborhood off of College Road.

Fairbanks Police say they received a call from a neighbor saying he hadn't heard from the victim in a week. When he went to the house to check on her, the house smelled and he found her in bed.

He called 911 and reported that she was deceased.

When police arrived they found the son of the victim, 34 year old George Tuukgaq Rosa of Fairbanks, hiding in the bathroom.

According to police, Rosa confessed to choking his mother five or six days ago. He continued to live in the home until police found him Tuesday Night.

He has been taken to Fairbanks Correctional Center and is charged with first degree murder.
