Local woman spits on police officer, refuses sobriety test

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A local woman was arraigned in Fairbanks District Court on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, harassment, and driving under the influence. According to charging documents, Fairbanks Police Department received a report on October 1 of a vehicle accident at the intersection of Cushman Street and First Avenue. A complaint from the other driver says Jerica Rowlett was stumbling, and claimed she did not have ID on her. The witness states Rowlett got back in her vehicle and left the scene. The driver of the other car followed Rowlett until officers arrived and located her. A report from a responding officer says Rowlett refused to submit to a sobriety test, and when he attempted to prevent Rowlett from hitting her head against the divider, Rowlett spit on him.
