Local man wanted for assault, vehicle theft

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks Police Department responded to many calls Monday, one of which was an assault and vehicle theft. FPD received a report around 1:42 p.m. that a man had been assaulted.

A report states the victim was flagged down by the suspect, later identified as Lawrence McMullen Jr., near the Alaska Motel on South Cushman. After McMullen got into the vehicle, he allegedly began punching the victim. The vehicle stopped in the area of 27th Avenue, where McMullen reportedly pulled the victim from the vehicle and continued to punch and kick him. McMullen then fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, a 2006 Silver GMC truck with license plate GXH175, and the victim was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital with injuries to his face and body.

Records show McMullen is wanted on an Alaska State Troopers warrant out of Anchorage for assault in the third degree.
