Local man charged with assault, robbery, burglary for Thanksgiving break in

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A local man was arraigned Wednesday in Superior Court on charges of assault, robbery, burglary, and weapons misconduct. Fairbanks police received a report of a home invasion in the Aurora Subdivision on November 21. When officers arrived on scene they found that Vent's alleged accomplice, Michael Beard, and one of the residents had been shot. Vent had fled the scene before officers arrived. It was reported that Vent and Beard used a four foot crowbar to force their way into the home. Beard and the injured roommate were transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Beard was later flown to Seattle for further treatment of his injuries. Charges have yet to be filed against Beard, and his current condition is unknown.

Vent entered a not-guilty plea and his case will now be handled by Judge McConaughey. Vent has a pre-trial hearing planned for January 10 at 2:30, and his jury trial is scheduled for the week of January 28.
