Home Heating Reclamation Act to remove borough's ability to regulate air quality

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Fairbanks North Star Borough Mayor's office put out a press release regarding the implementation of the Home Heating Reclamation Act. This act removes the borough's ability to regulate different aspects of air quality within its borders. The act becomes effective once the election is certified, which is expected take place October 25. Mayor Kassel is quoted in the press release saying, "The issue is complicated, and no decisions have been made regarding changes to the Air Quality program operations."
