AST investigation into gun brandished at West Valley High School

FAIRBANKS, Alaska According to a statement released by the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District there was an incident involving a firearm at West Valley High School on Monday April 22nd.

At approximately 2:45PM Monday a young adult male brandished a weapon to a group of students and then drove away. The students were walking on the access road near the student parking lot at the time. Staff immediately notified law enforcement and the families of those students who were potential witnesses. Alaska State Troopers are currently investigating the report.

They went on to say, “Student safety and care is our top priority, and we appreciate the swift response and support of the Alaska State Troopers. We encourage you to take this moment to talk with your student about the importance of reporting any unusual behavior and/or situations immediately.”

We spoke to a family member of the accused who stated that he is denying the charges and says there is more to the story.

Alaska State Troopers have not yet provided a comment about the incident but we will update you as soon as we have more information.
