Ft. Wainwrights soldiers organize winter clothing drive

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Two Fort Wainwright soldiers have partnered with the Fairbanks Rescue Mission, the Street Outreach and Advocacy Program also known as SOAP and the Door for a warm clothing drive.

Staff Sergeant Steffan Hutchins, Corporal Blake Penny and about 60 other soldiers in 2-8 field artillery at Fort Wainwright have partnered with these organizations to give back to the community. In addition to warm clothing, residents can drop off toiletries and even unused Christmas presents as well. Hutchins and Penny agree that this is a great way for the Fort Wainwright community to get involved with the Fairbanks community.

"I think a lot of the Fort Wainwright soldiers want to give back to the community and so we're just here as a stepping stone to help the community," Penny said.

Donations can be dropped off this Saturday December 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Sportsman's Warehouse.
