Fort Yukon woman missing for six days

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - It has been six days since the disappearance of Lorraine Ginnis of Fort Yukon. Ginnis was last seen October 4 at approximately 5 p.m. walking on Spruce Street near the GZ Electric customer office in Fort Yukon. She is described as a 62-year-old Alaska Native, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 120 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Ginnis was last seen wearing a red and purple coat with a red hooded sweater. A press release put out by the Fort Yukon Police Department says there have been no confirmed sightings of Ginnis and foul play is not suspected.

Acting chief of police, Sean Martines, said, "We had PAWS with K9s and they were able to put together a report on the whole incident and gave us two handlers of K9s flown down from a helicopter. The city itself has just had an unbelievable outpouring of support."

If you have information on Ginnis' whereabouts, you are urged to contact the Fort Yukon Police Department at 907-662-5505.
