FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) There was a fatal accident on the Elliott Highway North of Fairbanks on Saturday.
According to the Alaska State Troopers, the two vehicles involved in the crash were working on a construction project at mile post six.
Investigation revealed a 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup began fishtailing when climbing uphill and lost control on the freshly snow-covered roadway. The Dodge Ram crossed over the centerline and into oncoming traffic. The oncoming traffic was a 1975 Peterbilt dump truck. The Dodge Ram was struck by the Peterbilt and both vehicles came to a stop in the northbound ditch. The driver of the pickup was pronounced dead on the scene.
Troopers have yet to release the name of the deceased and they say an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
