FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) A Friday night police chase ended in a car accident in downtown Fairbanks.

Around 12 a.m. on Saturday the Fairbanks Police Department received reports of a native male wearing all black and acting suspiciously at the Drop Inn Lounge on South Cushman street.

The male then entered a dark SUV and started driving rapidly around town.

FPD officers tried to stop the vehicle multiple times.

The vehicle sped through red lights and drove the wrong way down a one way street, eventually crashing into a parked vehicle on 10th Ave. The driver then fled on foot before being apprehended very quickly by the officer.

A passenger that was sitting in the parked vehicle was seriously injured and had to be transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

While officers were on the scene of the collision, the owner of the dark SUV called to report that it had been stolen.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was identified as Daryl Theodore Gray. Gray was charged with a DUI, vehicle theft in the first degree, assault in the third degree, leaving the scene of an accident involving injuries and failure to stop at the direction of a police officer.
