FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Laroy White of Fairbanks was sentenced yesterday to 20 years in prison for the 2016 murder of Donald McLean.
In January 2016 Fairbanks police responded to a Rickert Street apartment where they found Mclean had been beaten to death and wrapped in blankets. White was allegedly jealous of the victim after discovering text messages sent between the victim and a mutual love interest. Documents state, White admitted to going to the victim's home to talk and ended up striking him with a pipe, claiming self-defense because he believed the victim had a gun.
This sentence comes after White pleaded guilty to second degree murder in April of this year.
