Early voting open for municipal election

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Election Day is coming up fast on October 2, and early voting is still open. From now until October 1, residents can visit the clerks' offices in Fairbanks, North Pole, and the borough to cast their vote for the municipal election.

Fairbanks North Star Borough Clerk April Trickey, said in-person absentee ballots are available to anyone that may be unable to make it to their precinct on Election Day. She urges everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to have a voice in this year's municipal election.

"This is your opportunity to have a voice on who is serving as your borough assembly, your borough mayor, on the school board, IGU and also on the city council. And I know a lot of people forget sometimes about the local election, but the local election, who is in office, and what is happening on the local level affects our daily lives. So I really encourage people to get out and vote."
