FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) Good news for those who use the Mitchell Expressway, as of this Wednesday, the Parks-bound Chena River Bridge is reopened.
Unexpected damage found on the bridge extended the closure of a portion of the road that was supposed to reopen in July. The last time we spoke to the Department of Transportation, they said the bridge would reopen this coming Monday, September 23rd.
According to DOT Spokesperson, Caitlin Frye, there is still some striping and shoulder work to be done, which might cause partial lane closures. She added that the work will be done at night and the expressway will remain open through the remainder of the project.
