FAIRBANKS, Alaska - It's a winter wonderland at Charlie Young's Fairbanks home. For 15 years Young and his family have decorated their home with lights and every year Young likes to add a new feature to his light display and this year, it's a holiday train.
“We do it to put smiles on people's faces. You get so many thank yous and people appreciate it," he said.
With dozens of twinkling lights lighting up his front yard, the electric bill would seem like a burden but with LED lights, Young said it's not as bad as it used to be, 10 years ago it was much worse.
Young starts to put out his Christmas lights mid-November and will they stay up until the first of the year.
His home is lit up daily from 4 to 10 pm at the corner of Birch Lane and Fairbanks Street.
