Carnival comes to Carlson Center with rides and fried food

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Golden Wheel Summer Spectacular is here, which means the rides are up, the apples are dipped and the fries are curled. Get ready to spin, tilt and whirl around the carnival because it's back in town.
You might recognize some of these rides from the fair, but for the past four summers, Golden Wheel Amusements has put on a show of their own.
They've promised classic fair food like corn dogs, cotton candy, and elephant ears. You'll also see rides like the drop tower, sizzler, and Ferris wheel. The Gravitron has been replaced, but it's still the same space ship that'll pick you up off your feet.

"We've got two new rides. There's a fan favorite of Alaska, the Gravitron. Not sure if you remember, but we have a brand new one which is the G-Force right over there. And that is a thrill ride. People have been loving it this summer. It is its first summer back in Alaska. And then we also have a family friendly rocket tug that is for all kids," said games manager Chelsea Eckert.

The Golden Wheel Summer Spectacular is open until August 5th behind the Carlson Center.
