Anchorage man arrested for allegedly starting wildfire

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - A man was arrested in Anchorage this morning for allegedly starting a wildfire. Anchorage Police say 50-year-old Kevin Slats started the wildfire near Elmore and East Tudor Roads. APD alerted the Anchorage Fire Department, as well as a Wildfire Crew that was already in the general area and firefighters put the fire out quickly. The exact cause of the wildfire is under investigation. APD says Slats faces multiple charges, including criminally negligent burning, failure to report a wildfire, and reckless endangerment.
