Alaska State House Elects Temporary Speaker

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska State house elected Democratic Representative of Nome Neal Foster as its temporary speaker. The only other nomination was for Republican Representative Mark Neuman of Big Lake.
Foster was elected on a 35 to 4 vote. His first action as speaker was to recognize the nomination of Sharon Jackson for the vacant House District 13 seat. Governor Mike Dunleavy appointed Jackson to this seat after he chose Nancy Dahlstrom to be Commissioner of the Department of Corrections.
