FAIRBANKS, Alaska - An Alaska Railroad train car derailed outside of Cantwell early this morning.

According to a press release, a tanker car in the middle of a 76 car train derailed.

There were no injuries.

The car is carrying around 23,000 gallons of fuel, but no leaks have been reported.

The derailment damaged parts of the track and a bridge.

About half of the cars where detached and taken to Fairbanks.

The remaining cars will need to be removed before the track can be fixed and the car re-railed.

The railroad estimates it will take at least 48 hours to fix the track after the cars are removed.

There will be no rail service between Fairbanks and Anchorage until the track is repaired.
