Alaska ANG '168th Wing' practiced combat arms skills

FAIRBANKS, Alaska Members of the Alaska Air National Guard '168th Wing' had their drill weekend, which gave them a refresher in combat arms skills.

Over the course of the weekend, about 40 airmen were trained on two types of guns, so that if they need to deploy or carry the weapon, they know how to use it properly. Combat Arms Instructor, Jordon Thompson, says handling a gun properly is a "perishable skill," so the more you can practice, the better you will remember the skill when you need it. Thompson says airmen who are police, like him, shoot much more frequently, but for other airmen, reminders are needed in order for them to be comfortable firing a gun.
