FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) The Airport Police and Fire Department will be conducting training fires tomorrow at the airport.

According to Chief Aaron Danielson, they will be conducting vehicle fire trainings around 1 p.m. tomorrow (Sept. 24th,2019).

The department recently hired new recruits and they need to pass the training to be qualified for the firefighting position.

"They shouldn't be too concerned about seeing black smoke out by the airport during these training exercises,” Danielson said. “If they are concerned, don't believe that it is related to any of our training they should call our dispatch center at 474-2530 or 911 in the case of an emergency to report that. But in the general vicinity, around 1 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, there should be some small columns of black smoke related to those vehicle fires that they don't need to be concerned about."
