The legislative session went into recess in late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Senator Scott Kawasaki says "The session ended quickly and I expect that we're going to have to go back into a special session just to fix some of the things that we didn't get done during the regular session," said Kawasaki.
Kawasaki says they made some hasty decisions in the legislature that they need to fix. "We were able to pass some of the important stuff for the unemployment insurance quickly. That happened in a matter of a couple of days and that was great, but there's more things that we need to get done and I think we need to go back to have a session," said Kawasaki.
Kawasaki says he wants to help Alaskans in need. "The big thing is that we want to make sure that folks have some resolution... that folks go into the new year recognizing that we have a bad economy right now, and I want to make sure that those folks have the help that they need," said Kawasaki.
Kawasaki says he is ready to go back to Juneau to help with unemployment insurance and small businesses assiatance.
