Troopers release new information about hit and run

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) Alaska State Troopers have provided additional information about a hit and run that took place in Fairbanks on Tuesday afternoon. According to troopers, a man driving an ATV rear-ended a vehicle on Geist Road. Alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The car that was involved, which was struck by the ATV, was not identified and did not stay on scene. (AST)

The driver of the ATV suffered severe head injuries but is in stable condition. The driver of the vehicle that was struck left the scene of the accident.

Troopers were able to get a photo of the vehicle and describe it as a 2015 or newer, gray Nissan Versa. Troopers had previously reported the vehicle as a Toyota Matrix but have since identified the car as a Nissan Versa.

They said that the vehicle is missing a large part of its driver's side rear bumper and has broken rear tail lights.

Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed the accident or knows the whereabouts of the car to contact them at 451-5100.
