ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTVF) In a press conference on Monday Governor Mike Dunleavy has stated that phase one of opening up Alaska will be announced on Tuesday with some businesses being open again as early as next week.

He will be meeting with Alaska’s Mayors Tuesday in order to come up with a collaborative roll out statewide.

In his daily press briefing Dunleavy announced that they would start opening barbershops, nail salons and retail stores. He also said they would allow restaurants to serve families who call in for reservations.

He says they will be sharing timelines and dates for the changes but that they will happen quickly, in the next few days.

Dr. Anne Zink says they still want people to practice social distancing, limit large gatherings and consider wearing masks when in public and in retail establishments. Keeping hands and surfaces clean are also going to be vital moving forward.
