FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) A man charged with first degree sexual assault pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday. Aaron Cornelius allegedly assaulted a woman on January 7.
Police received a call from Fairbanks Correctional Center from an inmate saying his girlfriend had been raped and asking them to check. Police responded to a house and arrested Cornelius. The victim said that Cornelius had jumped on top of her, given her a bear hug and then put his fingers inside of her.
Cornelius admitted to having put his hands around the victim, but denied sexually assaulting her. He was found to have a baggie containing a white crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
Law enforcement responding to the crime also arrested another man at the location for sexual misconduct with a dog.
