Families waited at the hangar on Fort Wainwright to reunite with their loved ones. Stacy Degroot says this was her husband’s 9th deployment, and his last since he is retiring. “It’s been nine months, or 282 days,” said Degroot. She says she’s ready to have her best friend back.

Savannah Hurley says this was their fourth deployment and that although it felt a little bit longer, it’s over. Hurley says she is looking forward to the everyday simple things again, like “having coffee and breakfast together and just having him around."
