Pet of the Week: Meet Crixos the loving German Shepherd

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - You can bring out your inner nerd during a night of gaming with your very own Crixos. He's an older gentleman who would love to be your new battle-buddy. Animal tender Kimberly Imbert said," This weeks Pet of the Week is Crixos. He is a 10-year-old german shepherd mix who came to the shelter as a stray. Crixos had vististed us about six years ago and he was also a stray at that time and neither time his owners came to redeem him, so he is hoping to find a loving retirement home. He is an older boy now. Crixos has some arthritis in his hips which is normal for an older shepherd. He does have normal shepherd tendencies like he likes to be really close with his person, and he can be vocal, a little whiny. Sometimes he may show some separation anxiety, that had been noted previously and usually it doesn't go away with age but maybe will be a little less severe. Crixos is really playful with other dogs, he has been at the shelter for a while so he is getting a little annoyed and his temper is a little bit shorter with his neighbors, but he is a very good dog. He would do fine in a home with other calm dogs, since he is older and starting to feel some stiffness, Crixos does not want to live with a rambunctious puppy or a small child that might jump on his hips. He needs a good amount of exercise every day, like a nice walk. He doesn't need a lot of exercise, but he does need daily walks to help him stay in good shape. Crixos has a lot of other friends at the shelter looking for loving homes including a lot of dogs and rabbits."
