Zach Frye named WCHA Defensive Player of the Month

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Alaska Nanooks will begin their Postseason play tomorrow night when they take on the top seeded Minnesota State Mavericks in a rematch from last year's tournament opener.
However, before they begin their playoff stay, one Nanook Senior was honored for his spectacular February.
Zach Frye has been named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Month.
He was the top scoring skater in that position, leading all WCHA Blue-Liners with 10 points.
Three of those came from Goals and Seven Assists.
He averaged 1 point 25 points per game.
He was also tied for second in overall scoring in the conference.
Frye was able to score in 6 of the 8 games from the Month of February.
The Spokane Washington Native was named Defensive Player of the Week after the first series of the month, and again after the last.
For the season overall, he is the top goal-scoring defenseman with 10 and second in total points with 31.
Frye and the rest of the Nanooks will open their best-of-three series against Minnesota State tomorrow night.
Other First round matchups for the Conference Title tournament will see the Number 2 seeded Northern Michigan Wildcats hosting the Alabama Huntsville Chargers in Marquette Michigan.
The Third seeded Bowling Green Falcons host the 6th seed Ferris State Bulldogs in Bowling Green Ohio, and the 4th Seed Bemidji State Beavers host the Michigan Tech Huskies.
All of the matchups this weekend will be best-of-three series.
