FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Winter means Dog Mushing season here in the Interior and the Yukon Quest is officially ready for their February start.
The Quest board of directors announced earlier this week that their race team is in place.
Doug Harris will be returning as Race Marshall for the second consecutive year.
The former musher who completed the quest in 1996 and 1998 was also marshall in 2000 and 2001 before taking the position back on a year ago.
Another returning face is head veterinarian Nina Hansen, who will be returning for a fifth year in the race.
This is also her tenth year as an on-trail Vet.
Stepping up as Race Manager this year will be Briana Mackey, who has served as Assistant Race Manager for the past three years.
That assistant spot will be filled by Heather Scannell, who has managed the Two Rivers Checkpoint for the past three years.
The 36th annual edition of the race will start in Whitehorse on February 2nd 2019.
The finish line will be here in Fairbanks.
There are currently 31 mushers signed up to run the race, an increase from the 26 who signed up last year.
